The 1980s was a decade famed for many reasons – amazing music, big hair, Live Aid, to name a few but did you know Hublot, the iconic watch, was launched by Breil watchmaker Carlo Crocco in 1980, with the first watch ever to combine metal casing with a rubber strap?
This combination is now an accepted feature in watchmaking but in 1980 it was staggering in its innovation. Furthermore, it had taken three years’ dedicated research and development to design and manufacture the first natural rubber strap.
