The Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) has once again been recognised for its excellence in the travel industry. At the 2023 Travvy Awards, hosted by travAlliancemedia, the MTA was named Best Destination - Mediterranean, receiving the Bronze Travvy Award.
The Travvy Awards, known as the Academy Awards of the USA travel industry, celebrate the top suppliers, hotels, cruise lines, airlines, tour operators, destinations, technology providers, and attractions. Winners are chosen by travel advisors, who are experts in the field.
Michelle Buttigieg, Representative North America for the Malta Tourism Authority, expressed her gratitude for receiving the award, stating that it is a great honour for Malta. She highlighted the expansion of Malta's luxury offerings with new hotel openings and increased airline routes, making it easier than ever for US travelers to visit the Maltese Islands.
Buttigieg also thanked TravAlliance for their support and the travel advisors who have shown confidence in promoting Malta as a destination. She emphasised that Malta offers a safe and diverse experience for all visitors, with attractions such as culture, history, yachting, famous film locations, culinary delights, events, and festivals. She also mentioned the upcoming maltabiennale.art 2024, which will be hosted in Malta for the first time under the patronage of UNESCO.
Carlo Micallef, CEO of the Malta Tourism Authority, expressed gratitude for the recognition and acknowledged the hard work and ongoing efforts of the organisation. He noted that the award comes after a successful summer season in 2023 and highlighted the continuous marketing and PR initiatives in North America. Micallef also mentioned the commitment to travel agent training and expressed optimism for welcoming more North American tourists to the Maltese Islands in 2024, as connectivity from the US becomes even more convenient.
Overall, the Best Destination - Mediterranean award reaffirms the Malta Tourism Authority's dedication to providing exceptional experiences and attracting visitors from all over the world.
