Just a week before America's most celebrated festivity, Independence Day aka 4th of July, Malta will see it's first ever kick off to the most followed sport of the nation, American Football.
The multi-national team of 30 players has been meeting and practicing for only a year but the history of Phoenix Malta goes back a little further. It was set up five years ago by the now Head Coach, Domenico Barbuzza with the help of the president of the Phoenix Sports Club, Mr Orlando Bonnici. Barbuzza is assisted by his team of coaches, Adam Morales, Defensive Assistant coach, Mike Cheviron from the US, Defensive Coordinator and Brent Liebe, also from the US as Offensive Assistant Coordinator. The Phoenix Malta American Football team is sponsored by Enteractive, a specialist in iGaming player retention and reactivation company with offices in Gzira, and the first ever local match is also being sponsored by Enteractive.
Phoenix Malta will be playing their first official game against Bulgarian team Sofia Knights and will Kick-Off tomorrow, Saturday June 25th at 6.30PM at the Charles Abela Memorial Stadium in Mosta. Gates open at 5.30PM and entrance is free of charge.
Join in the making of local sports history and get a taste of a new tradition to come: Superbowl Sundays (or Saturdays in this case).
